The iDevice cannot charge the iDrifta, and the iDrifta must at least have a little bit of power to be recognised by the iDevice. However, if you are watching something and the iDrifta runs out of battery power the iDevice power will be used and you will be able to continue to watch. If you unplug your iDrifta though it will not be recognised again when you plug it into your iDevice until it has at least been charged a little.
