Can you plug a Drifta (USB or wifi) into a flat screen TV?
Posted on February 2, 2013No. The Drifta needs software to run on the host device and this software is not built into any TV’s at this time and DStv have given no indication they will ever do so.
Some of the new generation Smart TV’s run Android and can download Android apps. Theoretically DStv could update their Android App to then support the USB Drifta plugged directly into such a TV, however, they have not indicated any intention to do so, and likely never will.
The Drifta is intented for mobile use, hence the limitations to small screen devices, and the artificial limitation to a quarter of your screen on a PC. Given this, it is extremely unlikely DStv would then enable the use of the device on large flat screen TV’s.
