Most of the hacks require you to jailbreak your Kindle first. Once you have done that you can do various things, including :

• Screensaver and font hacks
• Load an alternate (better) music player
• Add a dictaphone option to record audio with the microphone
• Install an SSH client / terminal emulation
• HTTP server running on the kindle
• Notepad application
• Calculator application
• all sorts of other odds and sods
